the great society
core american valuesThe US wanting to win the race to the moon was nationalism and it brought pride to the US by accomplishing this.
The fact that the US was able to put a man on the moon was a huge accomplishment and showed progress in our space program. The Voting Rights Act of 1965 gave African Americans the right to vote without the literacy tests and showed equality between white and black men. The protesters of the war showed hope when they were protesting because they hoped that with their influence the government would pull American troop out of the war. |
change from previous era The change from previous eras is that we put a man on the moon and that was a huge accomplishment and that we had intercontinental missiles ready for use. Another change is that African Americans are able to vote now without the literacy tests. People had medicare that was partially paid for by the government. JFK was also the first Roman Catholic to be elected President which many Americans were afraid that he would turn to the Pope for help. JFK also made math and science in schools a required part of the curriculum along with fitness tests and school became a more serious aspect of children's lives.
